I didn't fifty-fifty know that the laugh a minute rom-com Once Were Warriors had a sequel. While it suffers from the standard neverbeingabletoliveuptotheoriginal-itis that follows many classic films around I enjoyed watching all of information technology. Information technology'southward kind of like a revenge flick but at it'southward core information technology shows the deep rooted consequences of your actions. I never thought Jake the Muss would exist a redeemable character but he tries and that's beauteous.

This is an aptly named movie, considering everyone here has a broken heart. The sequel to Once Were Warriors, a movie I think vividly from my youth, and not just because it was critically acclaimed, just also because it was a tough, but true lookout man.
This movie might not be a masterpiece, but it is a decent sequel and tells pretty much the same story. If yous wanted to argue that it wasn't necessary to make this movie, I wouldn't oppose yous, but I've definitely seen worse sequels. The gang setting might be a little exaggerated for the purpose of the movie, only it works. I plant myself rooting for both Jake and Sonny, who bargain with the same issues, but in very unlike ways.
Not a film I ever programme to go back and revisit, but it wasn't bad.

That Jake the Muss, up to his 'ol tricks once again!
This actually wasn't equally bad as I had though it would be. It'due south strange that it exists. I'm curious how people/myself would feel almost it if nosotros only saw it on television receiver knowing nothing of the fact that its a sequel to a picture that yous would never wait had a sequel.
*Spoilers Below*
I take to say, information technology's very satisfying seeing Jake transform the style I was wishing he would while watching Once Were Warriors (merely in the way that you always want someone to "exercise the right thing"). He finally does the right matter! He finally tames his outbursts of rage! He gets a job! He makes friends…

Once Were Warriors did not demand a sequel.

What Becomes of the Cleaved Hearted is a decent flick on its ain, simply can't move out of the shadow of its amazing and superior predecessor Once Were Warriors.
Jake does get a good redemption arc and it's groovy to see many of the original cast dorsum, just the movie, while evidently continuing the story, doesn't go along the tone, nor the genre really, which might merely be down to the change of managing director.
The accent on serious drama is missing a bit and the movie overall feels more like a offense action hybrid about gang violence. And while Once Were Warriors had several moments of calm earlier the hard-hitting storms to build character and relationships, which made for a very… -
Decent, only quite forgettable sequel to In one case Were Warriors, I felt that What Becomes of the Broken Hearted is a movie that doesn't take the ability of the first film, and information technology simply tried to replicate that vibe to a lesser result, which makes this follow up a scrap defective. The original film was raw, gritty, poignant and unforgettable with its strong story dealing with domestic violence due to booze abuse, which made In one case Were Warriors an unflinching and enthralling drama that was unforgettable. Not only that, only the original film was superbly crafted and acted with a well written screen play.
Although reuniting some of the cast of the original, I constitute that this sequel although a decent drama…

A worthy follow-up to One time Were Warriors and a difficult-hitting exploration of intergenerational family unit trauma and redemption.

Yuck. Similar T2 Trainspotting, it wants to take the same kinda energy as the original but it lacks the certain mode that the original had and doesn't have the slap-up corporeality of themes the original deals with and just feels pointless. Information technology has some new characters that you don't care nigh i bit but they accept up half the screen time and go out you drained, y'all just want to encounter what happened to Jake, not this shitty revenge plot.

I started to retrieve Jake the Muss was finally a nice guy and could respect women, oh how wrong I was... This was fun, Tem is still the chilling monster he was in the first, although something seems missing from this. The plot is potent but I just feel it's not portrayed or written every bit well as it could've been or as upbeat as Once Were Warriors (the prequel and a film I love). Still a practiced spotter and yous do really see how weak Jake is mentally.

While it definitely doesn't live up to the standards of it'due south archetype predecessor, this is withal a very watchable film. It's definitely not perfect, in that location's a lot of pacing issues from the heart onwards as well as the whole picture show itself feeling very underdeveloped, and on the whole the movie only doesn't accept the gritty rawness to it that made Once Were Warriors so powerful, just it'southward still worth a lookout.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Sequel to the classic Once Were Warriors, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? is in many ways a poor human's fake. Much of the core bandage returns for a moving-picture show that sets a similar tone only lacks the biting edge, the ferocious tempo or the explosive social commentary of its predecessor.
Jake "the Muss" Heke (Temuera Morrison) is back, five years after nosotros last saw him. His eldest son Nig (Julian Arahanga) has just been killed in a fight between ii rival gangs. Now almost entirely estranged from…
